A private helicopter pilot rating entitles you to fly a helicopter and carry passengers, although not for compensation or hire.  Operating expenses, however may be shared with other passengers.


FAA requirements:

  1. Bullet applicant must hold a third class medical certificate

  2. Bullet obtain a minimum of 40 hours

     at least 20 hours dual flight time and

     10 hours solo flight time

  1. Bullet pass the FAA aeronautical knowledge and flight proficiency exam ‘check-ride’

  2. Bullet pass the FAA knowledge written exam
